All about Phil Joy
Phil Joy is a top graduate of the Caledonian Hotel School in Edinburgh Scotland, and
successfully completed a five-year cook's apprenticeship with British Transport Hotels in
England and Scotland.
From there, Phil gained a wealth of experience in Europe before gaining further
recognition in Bermuda as a top hotel and restaurant Executive Chef. In 1976, he moved to
Canada to join the Four Seasons Hotel chain where he was involved in the opening of a new
property in Montreal Quebec.
Phil eventually left the Four Seasons chain and settled in Alberta where he was
involved in the restaurant business for more than 20 years. In 1990, he moved on from the
food service industry to concentrate his experience in the writing, publishing and
consulting industries.
This was driven by his innate desire to teach and share his experience with others.
Throughout his career Phil has had the opportunity to work in several first class
properties while enjoying the privilege of cooking for kings, queens, presidents, prime
ministers and many other dignitaries and celebrities. This experience as an executive
chef and restaurateur provides a solid foundation for supporting his mandate "to take the
professional aspect of cooking, translating it into simple, easy-to-understand terms."
His passion for cooking, coupled with his unswerving commitment to using only the finest,
freshest ingredients and his willingness to share this experience is the perfect stage to
ENJoy cooking with Phil.
